Hannah Snell Play

The only object that the museum has connected to Hannah Snell, the female soldier who served in the Sixth of Foot, is an engraving of her.

Her remarkable story was brought to life by Coventry based theatre company, Talking Birds, in a new performance piece - The Female Warrior; or, the surprising life and adventures of Hannah Snell.

The performances were popular with audiences and will be continued to be performed by Talking Birds in the future.

The story of Hannah Snell has been used to create activities for PSHE for use by secondary schools and colleges.

The project was possible thanks to funding from Grants for the Arts from the Arts Council England. The West Midlands Development Group (based at Ironbridge Museum) submitted the bid for a number of museums working with arts organisations in the region.
