World War I Somme Event coming later this year!
I am really looking forward to the Somme centenary event on the 23rd July. The extra funding from Warwick District Council and the Friends of the Museum will enable me to produce a free event that is a bit special and different. I hope that many local people from Warwickshire will be able to attend and that it will appeal to both young and old visitors. On the day there will be a living history group bringing to life what it was like to be a soldier at the time in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Listen to local ukulele band, the Spa Strummers, playing World War I tunes. Get involved in a family friendly art workshop to create several banners to hang in the museum. See the temporary display in the museum around the Somme and an exciting private display featuring a recreated real trench. Linking this all together is an innovative family friendly workshop from Tell Tale Theatre based on recording World War I news events.
